Swank Video Streaming Service Instructions

Unfortunately, streaming in the classroom from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and other services is getting harder to do. Most of the streaming services no longer support AirPlay.

Swank has made deals with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and movie studios for schools to legally stream videos. You can use them in class or send links to students. The selection in Swank is limited for K-12, but they are a growing company and hope to add more titles. We can also request titles not included.

Accessing The Teacher Portal

Teacher Portal: http://pinewood.school/swank-teacher

When it asks you to sign in, use the Google button.

You can search through the videos. If you find one you want to use with your students, you can use one of the buttons below the movie to copy a link you can use to send to your class.

Students cannot view the movie portal. They can only view the video you send them.

Limitations: It is the entire video. You cannot download it or create clips. However, you can send the students time codes for the parts you want them to watch. For example, tell them a clip starts at 43:25 (43 minutes, 25 seconds into the movie) and ends at 51:30. Swank is in discussions with EdPuzzle.

I made a tutorial video for you. I also attached a tutorial document Swank created.

Requesting Videos

If Swank has the title in its library but it is not one of the videos licensed to Pinewood, you can request it. I have negotiated with Swank and any request will be automatically approved and added to our Pinewood library within 24-48 hours.

You do NOT need to put your course name or fill out the section that describes how the film will be used. You can leave both of those sections blank (see below).

If you do not get an email from Swank saying your video has been added within a couple of days, send an email to [email protected] and we will help.
