LockDown Browser is an app that locks down the testing environment within Schoology. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading. In addition, students cannot to print, screenshot, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.
This may seem similar to locking students into an app using Apple Classroom, but it is much more secure. Students can still navigate around an app they are locked into with Apple classrooms, accessing other documents or files. LockDown Browser confines students to the Schoology Assessment.

Best Practice
Do not try this without practicing it with your students. It is not difficult, but as with anything new, there are slight hiccups you can run into.
Create an ungraded, practice, one question assessment to try with your students so everyone gets a feel for how it works. You also want to make sure the LockDown Browser app is configured properly on their iPads. It can be done in 10 minutes or less.
Feel free to schedule time with someone on the Tech Team to come in and help you run the sample assessment. 🙂
