A hard restart (sometimes referred to as a hard reset) will not erase your iPad. It is a normal troubleshooting step for an iPad that is frozen or having other issues. If you have to do a hard restart more than a couple of times a month, let our Pinewood Technology Team know.

iPads with a Home Button

Press and hold the Power button and the Home button until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. This can take 10-20 seconds, which can seem like a very long time. Do not use the "slide to power off" slider.

iPads with Face ID (no Home Button)

1. Press the Volume Up button once.

2. Press the Volume Down button once.

3. Hold the Power button until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. This can take 10-20 seconds, which can seem like a very long time. Do not use the "slide to power off" slider.
