Here are the details for returning your iPad and what will happen to your Pinewood account (including your email and documents on Google Drive).

Four very important notes:

  1. Do NOT erase your iPad before turning it in.
  2. You must charge your iPad before turning it in.
  3. You MUST know your Apple ID password.
  4. Your parents MUST turn off parental ScreenTime restrictions (if they were turned on).

Checklist

It will be helpful to bring a printed copy of the checklist with you. If not, we can fill it out together.

What if there is damage?
We will need to check your iPad for damage. You will be responsible for the cost of fixing any damage or replacing lost charging cords or wall chargers.

Do I have to return the USB power cord and wall charger?
No, we do not require this.

What about my files?
We will be erasing your iPad as soon as you turn it in. You must get any files you want from the iPad before returning it. Instructions are on the downloadable checklist at the bottom of this page. If you have questions, email [email protected]; we are happy to help.

How to Save Data on Your iPad

Pinewood Email Account (and Google Drive Files)
You will lose access to your Pinewood email address and all the related services (Google Drive, calendar, sites, and such) about a month after leaving Pinewood. If you have any content you want, you will need to get a copy by then. You do not need to complete Google Transfer before turning in your iPad.

There are a few options for getting a copy of your Google Drive files:

1. Google Transfer (best option)

Google has a Transfer service that works well. The caveat is that the Google account you transfer your data to needs enough space. If you have a lot of data, this can take up to a week.

We made a video for teachers, which will also work for students.

2. Use Google Takeout
You can use the Google Takeout service (https://takeout.google.com) to get a copy of most of your data. The archive this creates is large and probably broken into multiple files. It is not pretty, but you will get a copy of your data.

3. Share Content
You can share any file or folder with a non-Pinewood Gmail account, but you cannot change the ownership to a non-Pinewood account. Once you share, however, you can make copies of all your files and folders in the new account.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email [email protected], and we will be happy to help!

Thank you.
